Chicago Art Department presents Mediating Patriotism, a collaborative exhibition featuring three artists in conversation about nation, symbolism, and belonging. Artists explore identities that force them out of the center.

Who gets to fly the flag? Who gets to call themselves a patriot?

Mediating Patriotism, a collaborative exhibition featuring Sam Schwindt, Galina Schevchenko, and Lisa Jenschke in conversation about nation, symbolism, and belonging. Artists explore identities that force them out of the center and ask what that means for their relationship to the countries of their birth and the symbols that represent them. The show is rich in materials: leather, canvas, fringe, ceramics, and richly embroidered cloth.
